Flamingo Las Vegas reopened in accordance with directives from Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and the Nevada Gaming Control Board on Thursday, June 4, 2020 with two Bob Mackie costumed showgirls dressed in the historic orange and pink "Jubilee" finale costumes. New to the costume are bedazzled face masks.
Caesars Entertainment has been working closely with health experts and adhering to guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, and the US Environmental Protection Agency to protect staff and their guests.
Also at the reopening, Flamingo Las Vegas Regional President Eileen Moore and General Manager Ken Janssen were on hand to welcome each guest back to the iconic Las Vegas Hotel on the Strip. As a special promotion, guestroom rates start at $35.
The luxury Flamingo Las Vegas was built by Benjamin 'Bugsy' Siegel in 1946. Known as 'The West's Greatest Resort Hotel,' with 105 luxurious rooms, it was the first grand hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.
The hotel received a $90 million dollar makeover in 2018, with an emphasis of gold and pink colors inside and out. The 3,500 upgraded rooms are decorated retro-chic with a focus on the hotel's 70+ years of history featured throughout the resort.
Walking into the hotel, first-time guests may sense a familiarity with the resort since both the interiors and exteriors of the hotel has been in many hit movies throughout the years. Some of its motion picture moments can be seen starting in the 1960s with Viva Las Vegas and Ocean's 11. The Flamingo was one of the five Las Vegas casinos robbed by characters played by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis Jr. and others.
Later in the 1990s, Warren Beatty depicts Bugsy Siegel in the film Bugsy, showcasing the history of the construction of the Flamingo Hotel.
Visitors can enter the X Bar and walk-up Bugsy’s Bar offering a lively atmosphere right in the heart of Flamingo’s casino floor. Paying homage to the hotel’s legendary founder, the large circular bar has a bright neon sign reminiscent of Vegas’ golden era. There is social distance seating for guests to enjoy a stiff martini, beer and wine served by bartenders wearing masks.
With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees in June, the Beach Club Resort Pool and GO Pool offer cabanas and chaise lounges for guests to enjoy the warm sun and take a cool dip in the historic outside pool.
Additionally, the Caesars Entertainment Company has reopened selected retail and dining outlets along The LINQ Promenade, and the High Roller Observation Wheel. Selected retail, dining and beverage venues include Breeze Daiquiri, Maxie's, Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar, Flour & Barley—Brick Oven Pizza, Haute Doggery, In-N-Out Burger, Off The Strip, Tilted Kilt, Yard House, I Love Sugar, ICE BAR, Las Vegas Harley-Davidson (June 5), Pier 30, Razer, Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chip, JaBurritos and Virgil’s.
The High Roller Observation Wheel is now open from 12 p.m. – 12 a.m., daily. Soar 550 feet in one of the 28 spacious cabins for a 30-minute revolution. The world's tallest observation wheel offers 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding communities.
