Forget dancing with the stars. My dream is skating on the ice (wearing a blinged-out, custom ensemble designed by Vera Wang with skates by Christian Louboutin), on the Vegas strip with Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton. Luckily for me, that wish is not too farfetched thanks to The Cosmopolitan. For the fourth consecutive year, the glam casino resort will welcome the return of The Ice Rink, transforming its Boulevard Pool into a winter wonderland.
Overlooking the heart of The Strip from November 20 through January 3, visitors can skate on 4,200 square feet of real ice, roast s’mores by the fire, and enjoy Instagram-worthy views of The Strip. And thanks to a little Las Vegas magic, light snowfall is guaranteed to occur every 30 minutes between 6 and 10 p.m. each winter Wednesday through Sunday.
The rink will host a grand opening bash benefitting Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and the Las Vegas chapter of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The November 20 event will be co-hosted by world and U.S. figure skating champions Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, and features figure skating performances by Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton, British national champion Steven Cousins, world and U.S. national champion Kimmie Meissner.
Attendees will have the opportunity to skate with the pro figure skaters and get their autographs during the event. Guests can also bid for goodies in a silent auction benefiting the nonprofit. Of course you’ll want a warm bed to crawl into after executing all those perfect figure eights, so book one of The Cosmopolitan’s residential-style living spaces with private terraces high above the 100,000-square-foot casino below. Tickets, without room accommodations, range from around $30-$75 and include a hosted bar and tastings.
