Las Vegas is getting a little bit classier come August thanks to the opening of the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino by sbe Entertainment Group. Known for their chic European décor and elegant furnishings, the SLS brand is opening its third property on August 23 on the grounds of the previous Sahara Hotel & Casino. But the SLS won’t be a stuffy hotel by any means, the resort aims to compete with The Strip’s hottest hotels by offering a spacious casino, vibrant pool parties, alluring nightclubs and trendy accommodations.
Employing thousands of local tradespeople, SLS broke ground in February 2013 and completed construction ahead of schedule, allowing guests to begin booking in a month from now. The resort will feature a casino, multiple nightlife offerings; the 20,000-square-foot mega-club, LiFE; a 10,000-square-foot Fred Segal retail experience; and a number of dining venues including Bazaar Meat by José Andrés, Katsuya, Cleo, Umami Burger and The SLS Buffet.
The 60,000-square-foot casino will boast dramatic chandeliers, an intimate vibe and rich colors with 800 slots, 70 classic table games and a High Limit Room for those looking for a more exclusive experience.
Designed by Creative Director Philippe Starck in collaboration with Gensler and SLS Hotels, the 1,600 guestrooms will fill three hotel towers: Story, Lux and World. Each tower will have its own unique signature feel and will come with contemporary furnishings and modern conveniences.
Inside the more than 250 suites, soft, ambient lighting sets the mood and soothing tones create a refined elegance atmosphere. Some will even be exclusive designs such as the Lux Albert’s King Suite which sits at 1,267 square feet on the top of the Lux Tower. Offering a spacious balcony with sweeping views, the room comes with a king bed, SLS Hotels’ exclusive Sleep Lying Still BeautyRest Mattress by Simmons Hospitality, an oversized bathroom and Ciel Spa amenities.
For guests looking to get a full Vegas experience, the SLS will also open their Foxtail Pool Club, a 21+ outdoor venue and extension of their nightclub of the same name. Because, what’s Vegas without a pool party? At LiFE, a multi-level venue with 20,000 square feet of space and over 60-foot ceilings, guests will be entertained by premier DJs, aerialists and performers.
Since the hotel is not located directly in the center of the action on The Strip, we’ll have to see how it measures up against the city’s biggest players. However, if SLS Beverly Hills and the SLS South Beach are any indication of how the hotel will do, we foresee a bright future for the newbie.
