Here’s How Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston Sets The Standard For Luxury

Don Riddle

Four years after making its debut in Boston’s Back Bay, Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston is still setting the bar high.

Let’s face it: there is luxury, but then there is Four Seasons luxury, and this property exceeds all expectations.

The elevated experience starts the moment guests arrive at the 61-story tower and are greeted by friendly valet attendants, who not only go out of their way to assist visitors but are genuinely happy to do so. After helping with luggage and/or pets, attendants show guests their way to the front desk to check in.

At 724 feet high, the property rings in as the third tallest building in the city of Boston with the John Hancock and Prudential Towers taking the two top spots, respectively. There are five types of guest rooms here that range from superior with one king bed to premier offering stunning city views.

Suites include the Four Seasons Executive and Back Bay Corner. Three specialty suites, including a sumptuous Presidential Suite, are designed for the ultimate indulgence and range in size from 1,283 to 1,627 square feet. There are also a variety of accessible rooms and suites that offer spectacular Back Bay views.

We recently stayed in the Four Seasons Executive Suite, a stunning 711-square-foot space designed to accommodate up to three adults or two adults and two children with one king bed and one sofa bed.

A 65-inch flat screen TV hangs above a large desk in the living area. Right next to it is a top-level private bar stocked with everything from light snacks to local cocktails and glassware to match. Underneath that is a Nespresso coffee maker that comes in handy for an afternoon pick-me-up and morning necessity.

We visited with our English bulldog, and they rolled out the red carpet for her arrival. When you let them know in advance of your visit you will be traveling with a four-legged friend, they will have a pet bed and some specialty treats awaiting upon arrival.

There is a spacious dressing room just off the living area complete with drawers for storage, and an extra-large closet with built-in luggage area and safe large enough to hold a laptop.

The real stunner here (besides, of course, the incredible views) is the bathroom. A spa-style design boasts a marble vanity, lighted mirror with built-in TV, and oversized glass shower. The centerpiece though is a deep soaking tub that overlooks the bright and airy bedroom that offers incredible skyline views from its floor-to-ceiling windows. A king bed topped with down duvets and pillows ensures a great night’s sleep.

The suite offers all of the high-tech amenities you can imagine. From bedside charging stations to lighting, drapery, and “do not disturb” controls right at your fingertips, every luxurious detail was considered. Other hotel amenities include twice daily housekeeping, evening turndown, same-day laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing, complimentary overnight shoeshine, and 24-hour in-room dining.

When it comes to dinner, Trifecta, their signature restaurant and cocktail lounge located on the lobby level, should not be missed. Get started with one of their signature cocktails like a Gilded Green, Not Your Queen, or Margarita with Mezcal foam. Be sure to try their signature Wellfleet oyster tacos: six cornmeal breaded oysters are served in fresh corn tortillas with pickled celery root and tasty caper crema.

There is also a nice selection of house made pastas, including crab carbonara, and lamb pomodoro, and handhelds like a lobster roll with black truffle aioli, and a surf and turf burger topped with lobster.

For main events, there is a choice between a 16-ounce Pineland Farms grilled beef ribeye and grilled, herb-marinated Atlantic swordfish served with lemon caper yogurt. Both entrees were standouts and taste even better when accompanied by sides of grilled asparagus, roasted mushrooms, and French fries.

Keep an eye out for some upcoming fun events. Oyster Tuesdays are held here from 5 to 7 p.m. and feature a variety of oyster specialties. Trifecta is also hosting a “Meet the Makers” series that kicks off with Bully Boy Distillers from September 3 to 9 where attendees can learn about the distilling process. In October, the flavors of autumn will be celebrated with Barr Hill Gin October 8 to 14.
