International Expeditions (IE) welcomed a new riverboat to their fleet with a blessing ceremony on the Peruvian Amazon River earlier this month to celebrate the vessel. La Estrella Amazonica will offer travelers the same range of amenities as its sister boats as well as exclusive items that will only be available to its guests. Each cabin comes with private balconies and onboard, a variety of services will be available like a multimedia lecture room, fitness center, Hobie kayaks and an over 1,000-square-foot observation deck. Nightly, travelers will be treated to a complimentary wine and beer reception.
Fifteen outward-facing cabins will accommodate 31 guests and each sit at 220 square feet. Hand-crafted furniture by Peruvian artisans and native handicrafts will decorate the rooms as well as textiles from Amazonian tribes and river villages. To unwind and take in the jungle sights, the private balconies feature two cushioned chairs for lounging.
“With this new riverboat, we have been able to bring the warmth of Peru and the villages along the river into the décor found in each cabin and our public spaces,” said Senior Expedition Leader Jorge Salas, who is overseeing riverboat operations in Peru.
IE has been specializing in small-group journeys for 34 years and continues to pioneer environmentally responsible travel.
