If you're thinking about getting away for the weekend, hop in the car and head over to the Hilton Island Motoring Festival—which officially started today and continues on until November 2. The event kicks off with the exclusive Savannah Speed Classic, offering classic racing, hot lap rides, test drives (Porsche, Lexus, Jaguar, and BMW will all be there with some of their newest luxury autos), off-road experiences, and pit access. Then there's the Concours d’Elegance (November 1-2), which takes place at the Port Royal Golf Club and will shine a spotlight on over 500 classic and collector's cars—like a 1934 Packard Dietrich Victoria, a 1950 Nash Healey Serial #1, and a 1927 Isotta-Fraschini.
If socializing is your thing, track down a few of the top guests for a chat, like maybe the Pebble Beach 2013 winner, Jospeh Cassini, who will be there with his own collection of shiny toys. There's also a cool Life of the Rich & Famous exhibit that will be happening during the Concours and will feature a 1955 Porsche Spyder (the same year, make, and model of James Dean's favorite sports car) and a 1965 AC Cobra that was originally owned by Kingston Trio's Bob Shane.
A full festival pass is $90, though single event tickets are also available.
