The newest all-inclusive resort to hit Los Cabos had its grand opening last week. Called Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, the hotel welcomed guests with Champagne and gave them free reign to check out the Baja-inspired architecture and décor. Owned by Playa Hotels & Resorts, Ziva features 591 suites, 34 of which you can swim up to, and a spacious Presidential suite.
Located on a private beach cove, Ziva’s design was heavily influenced by its environment, with handcrafted mosaics and indigenous-style wood carvings found throughout the property. There are also many locally-crafted ceramics and re-creations of ancient cave petroglyphs that have been found in the region.
Guests have the choice between one- or two-bedroom suites (from ones with ocean views to swim-up suites that sit right on the pool) or the 2,106-square-foot Presidential suite. Personally, we would go with the latter, which includes living and dining rooms, a Whirlpool tub, personalized concierge, complimentary sparkling wine and a VIP refreshment area. Plus, you get to check in and out in your own private lobby and have access to the Exclusive Premium Lounge.
For authentic cuisine, you’ll definitely want to visit the Mexican Plaza, which has its own Tequila Bar where you can participate in tastings. There are a wide range of culinary options available including Asian, Spanish, Italian and French restaurants. Two international buffet restaurants provide an array of chef-prepared foods as well for when you're in need of a quick bite.
The resort also includes the oceanfront Zen Spa, a KidZ Club with its own waterpark, an events lobby outside its 35,000-square-foot conference space, a Sports Bar with 16 40-inch HDTVs, and beach and pool butler service. Hyatt Ziva ranges in price from $516 to $4,100 a night, though if you book before October 31, the numbers could be much lower as a special Grand Opening discount.
