While Eddie V’s Prime Seafood is best known for its uber fresh seafood making its way to your plate just hours after being caught, the Back Bay restaurant is also making waves for its standout selection of flavor-filled aged steaks.
Boston certainly has its fair share of steakhouses to choose from, but if you are looking for one that delivers hand-carved cuts of beef served up with some live entertainment in a luxurious atmosphere, Eddie V’s proves to be a diamond in the rough.
Tucked away in the Prudential Center, the popular dining spot features everything from broiled center-cut steaks to an award-winning wine list boasting more than 300 wines recognized by Wine Spectator, along with an impressive selection of seafood.
Start off in the V Lounge with a glass of wine or one of their creative cocktails like the decadent “With love, Eddie” accompanied by a love note from Eddie himself, a bourbon-forward “Private Plane,” or the “Hope Diamond” served with a diamond-shaped ice cube.
Every night, the V Lounge hosts live music trios offering the perfect backdrop of enjoyable music played not too loud to allow for comfortable conversation. If you visit Sunday through Thursday between 4 to 6:30 p.m., you can enjoy select wines by the glass for just $9, hand-shaken cocktails for $10, and specially priced appetizers, including mini filet sandwiches, lollipop lamb chops, and black truffle tartare.
Get started with a sampling of their East or West Coast oysters served on ice with cocktail and mignonette sauces. The Connecticut Blue Points were on the larger side offering a delicious medium brine. For the ultimate indulgence, try the Big Eddie tower overflowing with wild jumbo Gulf shrimp, Blue Point oysters, ahi tuna poke, jumbo lump crab, Alaskan king crab, and Maine lobster.
Our friendly and attentive server Jayna was happy to make recommendations and offer advice on which dishes are the most popular. Their tableside steak tartare features hand-chopped, center-cut filet mignon tossed tableside with fresh egg yolk, capers and extra virgin olive oil.
Managing Partner Andrew Cregg could be seen throughout the evening checking in on diners to ensure they were having an enjoyable experience.
When it comes to hot appetizers, the crab cake should not be missed. This is one of the restaurant’s signature appetizers and for good reason – an enormous cake chock full of jumbo lump crab meat is coated with a light panko breaded crust then pan seared and topped with an addicting homemade remoulade sauce.
Eddie V’s selection of prime seafood includes Chilean sea bass served Hong Kong style, caramelized Georges Bank scallops, and parmesan and crispy panko encrusted sole.
We recommend ordering up a bottle of Oberon cabernet, sit back, relax and prepare to wowed.
For main events, indulge in the ultimate surf and turf combination of a premium hand-cut steak like the extra tender 10-ounce center cut filet mignon paired up with a broiled cold water lobster tail accompanied by a side of drawn butter.
A flavorful 18-ounce USDA Prime bone-in New York strip accompanied by a decadent side of cognac peppercorn sauce tastes even better when paired up with butter poached lobster and aged white cheddar mashed potatoes.
Other side dishes include crab fried rice with mushrooms and scallions; truffled macaroni and cheese; and grilled asparagus with sea salt and lemon.
Be sure to save some room for their showstopper dessert. The bananas foster butter cake is flambeed tableside for a fun interactive experience and served with a side of butter pecan ice cream and whipped cream.
They also offer classic crème brulee, a warm Belgian chocolate cake, fresh berries and cream, and a Meyer lemon tarte.
Eddie V’s Prime Seafood is located at 122 Belvidere Street in Boston.
