The only thing better than summer in Massachusetts is alfresco dining served up with an oceanside view. As soon as temperatures start rising and the warm weather beckons, diners start heading outdoors to soak up the rays.
There’s no better place to do just that than at Victory Point located along the beautiful boardwalk in Quincy’s Marina Bay.
Request a waterfront table outside on the marina overlooking the harbor. There is plenty of outdoor seating so it shouldn’t be too difficult to snag one of the coveted tables. An outdoor bar would also make a nice spot to grab a drink and quick appetizer while watching the planes take off and land from nearby Logan Airport.
The waterfront restaurant features all of the classic New England seafood staples, but the real standouts here are the authentic Italian specialties created by Executive Chef Pino Maffeo. Sure, you can get a cup of creamy clam chowder chock full of potatoes and fresh clams, or a Maine lobster roll served on a toasted brioche bun with tasty lemon aioli, but why not try a dish with a twist?
Victory Point has a nice selection of raw bar offerings that include local oysters on the half shell and jumbo shrimp cocktail served with spicy cocktail sauce. The mussels in a white wine sauce are a must served with a side of their homemade bread baked fresh every day. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, the bread is the perfect accompaniment for soaking up every last drop of the addicting sauce.
The standout entree here was the cod Milanese.
A piece of fresh cod was delicately pounded out, lightly fried and topped off with a simple yet flavor filled combination of fresh tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers tossed with extra virgin olive oil and oregano.
If you are in the mood for red sauce, don’t miss their classic penne Bolognese. A generous serving of pasta is tossed in a rich Bolognese sauce of pork, veal and beef. Other signature dishes include veal saltimbocca, cod Puttanesca, grilled swordfish pesto, fritto misto, lobster ravioli, and seafood pie.
The team behind Victory Point also operate a pizza parlor (Boardwalk Pizza) and gelato shop (Donato’s Gelato), both located just steps from the restaurant. Save some room for a scoop of sorbet, ice cream, gelato or soft serve. Trust us, you'll be glad you did.
Victory Point is located at 332 Victory Road in Quincy, Mass.
