Stylish, sleek and sexy, these are the only words to accurately define the style, feel and ambiance at Bokx 109 in Newton, Massachusetts. Located at the Hotel Indigo, Executive Chef Israel Medina has recently introduced a spring menu that focuses on fresh New England fare with dishes like wild caught fluke (our favorite) topped with a decadently-rich lobster butter and a side of braised collard greens.
We visited the restaurant recently and started with a sampling of enormous Blue Point oysters, beautifully presented in a massive boat with generous sides of tangy cocktail sauce, spicy horseradish cream and vinegary mignonette. The tequila steamed mussels should not be missed. The PEI mussels come tossed with dried chorizo, tomato concasse and red Fresno chilis.
As a main course, the fluke is a great choice, but if you are in the mood for a steak, the Flintstone ribeye is the only way to go. The massive bone-in cut was cooked to a juicy medium-rare perfection and complemented by an à la carte side of mushrooms and lobster mac and cheese. A visit here would be remiss without a sampling of their creative confections for dessert. We love the rich chocolate molten cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience.
