Plymouth is as synonymous with the birthplace of America as is its fresh seafood, which is why we headed there to check out the new menu at Union Fish Seafood & Raw Bar. Located on the water at the Brewer Plymouth Marina, the restaurant commands the summer scene in the warmer months with an open deck, continuous roster of live entertainment and hidden waterfront location. Executive Chef Brandon Babiarz has recently revamped the menu here to include some heartier dishes chock full of fresh seafood that Union Fish is so well known for.

Head up to the newly renovated second floor dining room (the outside deck is closed during the winter months) and request a window seat for a beautiful view of Plymouth Harbor. This larger expanded dining room with new bar area is beautifully decorated with a wall of windows that line the entire restaurant offering every diner an ocean view. You can still find a traditional lobster roll on the menu but for a twist on the traditional, try the lobster grilled cheese made with Vermont cheddar and tomato. The clam chowder was just as thick, creamy and loaded with tender clams as it is in the summer. Be sure to check the blackboard menu for the day’s fresh catches like Blue Point oysters and shrimp cocktail or share a sampling from the shellfish tower of oysters, clams, shrimp and tuna tartare.
Seasonal dishes here include butternut squash ravioli with braised kale, roasted red peppers, sherry and apples as well as a deliciously tender, juicy and cooked to medium rare perfection peppered filet with hearty cheddar mashed potatoes and crème fraiche topped with a rich demi glace. For dessert, don’t miss the pumpkin crème brulee or apple tart tartin. There will be a second location opening at the Hingham Shipyard next spring. Union Fish Seafood & Raw Bar is located at 14 Union Street in Plymouth. For reservations or more information, call (508) 747-4503.
