If you thought all exercise had to be tedious and no fun then you haven’t been to Sky Zone in Boston. The northeast’s first and only indoor trampoline park opened two years ago to soaring heights with its first location on Sprague Street in Hyde Park, just over the Dedham border. Sky Zone offers one of the easiest ways to jump off some extra pounds and has become so popular that they have already opened a second location in Everett due to increased demand. Before you jump with a child under 18, be sure to either fill out a parental consent form or have the waiver signed by the child’s parent or legal guardian in advance of the jump. Once you have filled this out, get ready for some serious fun!
There are more than 10,000 square feet of walled trampoline courts at the Boston facility that I recently visited with two 10-year-old girls. We handed in our waivers, got our jumping shoes on (they provide for use at no additional fee) and headed over to the trampolines. Two main areas separate adults from small children with a net. We were all so excited for our first open jump and had a blast bouncing and jumping while watching others flip in mid-air. We signed up for a 60-minute adventure that seemed to fly by. Jumps are available for reservation from 30 to 120 minute blocks.
For the more adventurous and agile jumper, head over to the 3-D dodge ball area where you can dive, jump, and literally bounce off the walls trying to avoid the ball. Sky Zone also offers a variety of group sports and classes like the intense SkyRobics class, which combines advanced calisthenics, core exercises, and strength building aerobics based on age and physical ability. During a SkyRobics class you can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour. For little ones, be sure to check out Toddler Time where kids up to age four can jump for 90 minutes (with parental supervision).
Sky Zone has also become incredibly popular for group rentals, including birthday parties, school outings, and even corporate team building events. Prices start at just $8 for a 30-minute jump (including shoe rentals).
Trust us this just might be the most fun you will ever get from a workout in the most untraditional format. For a full schedule of classes, games and programs at either location, visit SkyZoneSports.com.
