Amazingly fresh seafood, steaks seared to perfection and incredible waterfront views are exactly what Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House promised to provide when it arrived in town; but did it deliver?
There is also a waterfront patio deck complete with heated patio lamps for al fresco dining and jaw-dropping floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Logan Airport. In the summertime, be sure to request a reservation on the deck so you can listen to the concerts being held next door at the Bank of America Pavilion.
Executive Chef Derek Barragan has prepared a varied menu that focuses heavily on steaks but has a good influence of seafood to balance. Service here was somewhat interesting with several servers tending to our table - one for water, another for drinks, one for dinner and yet another to clear.
We started off with a sampling of the Pine Island oysters - deliciously fresh and briny bivalves arrived accompanied by a side of cocktail sauce and mignonette (we were told the menu of oysters changes daily). The shrimp cocktail was extraordinarily fresh and enormous and arrived with perfectly apportioned cocktail sauce on each piece of shrimp.
Moving right along, we sampled the double eagle Kansas City bone-in strip. An enormously tender and juicy cut arrived swimming in a pool of its own juices accompanied by a side of fresh creamy horseradish sauce. The melt-in-your-mouth bone-in ribeye was just as delicious, seared to perfection and well marbled for extra flavor (albeit a little over seasoned).
The sides at Del Frisco's are predictable steakhouse staples served family style - we shared the garlicky mushrooms and enormous baked potato. For dessert, the must-have here is the six-layer mile-high lemon cake with sugary frosting - the perfect overindulgence for a wonderful night on the town.
The view is so breathtaking from every seat in the restaurant that you probably won't even notice if the service does become a bit harried at times. If you are lucky enough to score a reservation here, just sit back, relax and enjoy the view; but more importantly, the delicious steaks.
