Royal Warship VasaOne of the most popular attractions in Sweden, the 17th-century
warship
sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 and was salvaged in
1961, with thousands of artefacts, including coins, tools, clothing
and other historical items. The ship has been carefully restored,
and half the upper gun deck, along with the admiral's cabin and the
steering compartment, have been recreated. Exhibitions detail
hardships of life on the sea, and showcase the primitive supplies
and medical equipment sailors had to contend with. Free tours are
conducted, though schedules vary. Address: Djurgården Website: www.vasamuseet.se Telephone: (08) 519-548-00 Opening Time: September through May Thursday to Tuesday 10am-5pm;
