Absecon Lighthouse

For those looking to see a bit of American history, Absecon Lighthouse makes for an excellent historical stop. The third tallest lighthouse in the United States and tallest in New Jersey, this landmark is over 150 years old and winds up 228 steps. First lit in 1857, the lighthouse boasts stunning 360 degree views of the seaside and surrounding areas.

Days and hours of operation can change depending on the season so it's best to check hours before your visit. While the surrounding grounds, museum and gift shop are free to visit, there is a small fee to climb the tower. The lighthouse also holds special events including night climbs, weddings and holiday specials.
