Linx Dating: The High-End Art of Networking for Love

(credit: Annie Barnett)

Known as the ‘Cupid of Silicon Valley,’ Amy Andersen has paired hundreds of clients in the tech world and beyond since 2003. Catering to tech moguls, venture capitalists, CEOs, celebrities, entrepreneurs and more, Amy started Linx Dating to match high caliber, marriage-minded global professionals. The private referral-based offline dating and social network uses a combination of research, intuition and a vast network to help clients find love and happiness.  Linx Dating’s blend of matchmaking, networking and rigorous vetting of prospects are three key ingredients that help distinguish it from its competitors.

While the boutique dating and social network is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Linx’s outreach extends across the U.S and around the world, particularly with ties to Singapore, London, Dubai and other major urban centers. The discreet upscale matchmaking firm only accepts a select number of clients annually and works exclusively with college-educated non-smokers. Along with using its vast, highly coveted network to search for matches, Linx has led the matchmaking industry’s charge into technology via the AI capabilities it has built into the matchmaking process, allowing quick and efficient access to the right prospects buried in its robust database.

“It's imperative to embrace technology in all aspects of the business, including the consumer facing side via platforms like social media. We’re living in the 21st Century and I feel it would be foolish not to use technology to our clients’ advantage,” said Amy.

Andersen's hands-on process starts with a non-refundable deposit to potentially become a premium client and continues with a client assessment and a one-on-one 90-minute meeting. Unlike other high net-worth matchmakers who take on anyone who can afford the high price tag, Andersen is selective in whom she chooses to represent and only works with a very small number of clients at any given time. If a prospect is accepted, the base price of a premium membership is $55,000, but instead of offering standard set memberships and pricing, Amy creates a bespoke membership package for each client as she does not offer a “one type fits all” model. She also proactively recruits more passive members who, though they are not clients, are still vetted to be added to her database as potential matches to be set up with her clients.

“The funny thing about our VIP clients is that they contact us AFTER they find love,” said Amy, which is a testament to the link they create with all of their clients. “We are a firm that provides so much value for our clients and these successful individuals want to pay it forward by referring Linx to their trusted personal networks of like-minded single contemporaries as they seek their forever matches.”

For the cream of the crop, Linx VIP membership costs can rise to $1M, which factors in significant incentive success bonuses for reaching milestones like marriage. VIPs also enjoy a full suite of concierge services beyond just matchmaking… these include date planning, feedback, coaching and image consulting, as well as access to a trusted network of experts ranging from psychologists and dermatologists to photographers. Invitations to Linx’s exclusive “Link & Drink” networking mixers are also super desirable and played a large role in putting Andersen’s business on the global map, starting with a feature in Vanity Fair Magazine in 2013. At the end of the day, Linx’s ultra-personalized approach to matchmaking combines thorough research and analytics with well-honed personal intuition to help its high-achieving clients find lasting and deeply intimate connections.

Offering her services to both males and females, Amy works with her clients to build an archetype of an ideal partner during the initial one-on-one meeting. Her contracts range from 12 months to 16 months, which allows her the appropriate time to refine each client’s type and objectives, and to conduct proper diligence in scouting and vetting potential matches. Covering everything from religion to ethnicity to occupation to height and eye color, previous relationship history, and everything in between, Amy leaves no stone unturned to unearth both the superficial and deeper personal qualities each of her clients seek. Throughout each client’s tenure, she relies on her small, yet nimble, staff lead by Chief of Staff Dani Geary, to manage immediate and ongoing client concerns and to oversee the company's recruitment and social media campaigns, as well as other key employees.

“It is worth noting that our approach to social media has always been organic and not formula driven.  As an example, I like to film a lot of fun skits to provide tactical dating tips and approaches for my followers,” said Amy. “We ended up having a video go viral to millions of people and that really showed me the power of social. Social provides our team with another cool platform to reach a diverse demographic in our own signature way.”

Linx provides a traditional, high-touch, personal approach to matchmaking that showcases a superior network, the best analytics and technology coupled with innate intuition and a forward-thinking approach to social media, as a key tool in our digital age. This multi-pronged, diversified strategy has attracted high-profile clientele across the world who are looking to rub elbows with the ‘who’s who’ of Silicon Valley and beyond.
