Luxury Cars: The
Volkswagen Passat CC was named the winner of the 2010 Best Luxury Car Under $60,000 by the Drive Car Awards in
Australia. The citation of excellence was put forth by
Drive Car Awards, which is a highly regarded consumer automobile guide in Australia.
It is the second consecutive year the Passat CC received the best luxury-car accolade. All together the Australia-based publication named three different Volkswagen cars as winners in three separate categories. Along with the Passat, the VW Polo 77TSI was named Best City Car, and the
Golf 118TSI won Best Small Car in 2010.
"Volkswagen's designers and engineers continue to deliver great products. I am looking forward to sharing this great news with my colleagues at our head office in Wolfsburg," said Ms. Anke Koeckler, Volkswagen Group Australia's
managing director, who accepted the award on the firm's behalf.
The judging for the awards was done by an 11-man panel. The criteria to determine winners included value, practicality, environmental friendliness, how a vehicle drives, overall comfort, and safety features.
