Luxury audio brands are constantly trying to come up with stylish designs that manage to be both fashion-forward and technologically competitive, and it seems like Vifa has hit both without even trying. With just three products in their lineup, Vifa speakers feature a Nordic design that is simple and beautiful, relying on the contrast between textured textiles and a smooth metal frame. Think the minimalism of Bang & Olufsen combined with the funky colors of 1980s boom boxes. Obviously a lot of effort has been put into these gadgets, but Vifa just makes it look so easy.
The Danish company sources a range of colorful custom-made textiles from Kvadrat, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers, for its three wireless speakers that lend a vintage look. Without any complicated buttons messing up the aesthetics, the units feature only two buttons on the front façade (which are woven into the material) and a few ports in the back.
As the first to be debuted, Copenhagen (€899/$950) is a mid-sized portable boom box that can apparently play for up to five hours on a single charge. It has two 28mm tweeters, twin 50mm mid-range drivers, and two 80mm woofers.
The long, slender Stockholm (€1,499/$1,585) is meant for the home, boasting twin 28mm tweeters, dual 80mm mid-range drivers, and four 100mm woofers. The Helsinki (€399/$421) is definitely our favorite, with its versatile size that can be styled as an accessory—thanks in part to its handy leather strap. The small Bluetooth loudspeaker carries with it some pretty great numbers too, with two 50mm drivers and twin 60mm woofers.
Though the speakers are easy to purchase in Europe, they have yet to really hit the North American market—though you can find Copenhagen on Amazon for $999.
