Inspired by the LA Ballet performance of The Nutcracker, the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is offering this holiday afternoon tea experience now throughout December on weekends from noon to 3pm.
The hotel is stunning and even more beautiful with a huge lobby Christmas tree and festive decorations throughout the space. The inviting lounge offers cozy booth seating and intimate table seating by the fireplace and music by a live harpist.
There is a wide tea selection provided by Tealeaves, including their special holiday Nutcracker and Sugar Plum Fairy blends.
The presentation of sandwiches, scones and sweets is modern with a four-tiered wood and silver tray. The sandwiches are perfectly assembled and include an egg mimosa with hard boiled eggs filled with airy egg mousse and paprika; a stacked striped cucumber brioche with cucumber and dill; a roasted chicken baguette with chicken breast, Russian dressing, tomato and lettuce; a smoked salmon sandwich on pumpernickel with pickles, lemon and cream cheese and a mini quiche with mushrooms and Gruyere cheese.
Sweets are also decadent and delicious, including a massive lemon meringue tarte, very pretty pistachio éclair decorated with a holiday Nutcracker top and a molten chocolate muffin.
The vanilla scones were flaky and warm and served alongside clotted cream and lemon custard.
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills provides a peaceful, festive and beautiful setting for a perfect holiday afternoon tea, $70 for tea or $95 including champagne, located at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills 9850 Wilshire Boulevard, reservations at 310.860.6666.
