Michelin announced its 2016 ratings for New York restaurants yesterday, bringing the total up to 76 honored establishments. Though the three-star list has been left untouched and The Modern was the only newcomer to the two-star list, a whopping 10 restaurants have been awarded their very first star.

The 10 newbies showcase a wide range of cuisine, showing the city’s cultural diversity. Japanese food is the clear winner among the 10 new restaurants, with Tempura Matsui, Sushi Yasuda, Cagen and Hirohisa all added. Vegetarians will be pleased to see that Brooklyn’s Semilla was added, which is a pretty impressive feat considering this is its first year of business. Also found in Brooklyn and awarded a star is The Finch, which serves traditional American fare.
Somtum Der, Gabriel Kreuther, Uncle Boons and Rebelle round out the remaining 10 newcomers.
