Philadelphia. The affair will feature internationally distinguished winemakers and celebrity chefs. Bacchanal! 2010, Pinot on the Palette, will celebrate the best of Pinot Noir from around the world. This is the the twelfth anniversary of the event. Bacchanal! has become a nationally regarded fine wine and auction event in the Philadelphia area that has raised approximately $3 million to help fund PAFA's student scholarships and education programs.
The festivities will include wine tastings, silent and live auctions of unique items and travel opportunities, a gourmet dinner with celebrity chef Daniel Le Guenan, the executive chef at the CuisinArt Resort & Spa in Rendezvous Bay, Anguilla.
PAFA's prestigious Thomas Jefferson Award will be given to four leading Pinot Noir producers from around the world. Michael Dhillon ,winemaker and proprietor of Bindi Wines, Australia; Grace and Ken Evenstad, proprietors of Domaine Serene Winery, Oregon; Jacques Lardiere , winemaker and technical Director for Maison Louis Jadot, France; and Larry Maguire , proprietor of EnRoute Winery, Russian River Valley,California.
Throughout the week preceding Bacchanal! a series of exclusive gourmet winemaker dinners will take place in private homes, each pairing a distinguished Pinot Noir winemaker with a local celebrity chef. In addition, plans are underway for Bacchanal! 2010 to be preceded by a Pinot Noir symposium and wine tasting event. The Haverford Trust Company will be the presenting sponsors for Bacchanal! 2010 is co-chaired by Timothy P. Speiss and June Marshall Smith.
