A few years ago Cirrus promised that they would be delivering their Vision SF50 aircraft to new owners in 2015 and they seem to be right on track considering the final production model flew for the very first time last month. According to Business Insider, the company has some 550 orders and deposits for the new plane, which will be selling for less than $2 million. Of course, with progress comes photos, meaning that we finally get a glimpse inside of this cool new aircraft and its luxury SUV-like interior.
Cirrus claims that it's pretty easy to fly, partly due to its V-shaped tail that makes it simpler to control, giving beginning "owner-pilots more lifestyle pursuits than any other personal aircraft." Plus, if anything goes wrong while in the air, a giant parachute system will deploy to ensure you float safely to the ground. The design also features a single Williams FJ33 jet engine, a Garmin directional system and SiriusXM satellite radio.
The Vision may be pretty small compared to other private jets—it has a 38-foot wingspan and weighs around 3,700 pounds—but it seems great for family trips since it can comfortably board up to five adults and two kids. It may not be what you want for long flights, but if you frequently find yourself making short jaunts and don't want to fuel up the Gulfstream, the Vision is definitely a great alternative.
