Graceland Auctions Off Elvis Presley's Private Jets, the Lisa Maria & the Hound Dog II

Elvis Presley is one of those famous figures people obsess over—Nicolas Cage's love even carried him to marry Elvis' daughter, Lisa Marie—so it's only a matter of time before someone snatches the singer's private planes. The two aircraft, one named Lisa Maria and the other Hound Dog II, are available through a sealed bidding with Julien's Auctions after having been on display at Graceland for over 30 years. Granted the planes aren't fit for flying, but if you consider yourself an Elvis memorabilia aficionado, you better jump on the auction before Cage beats you to it.

According to the auction house, the King of Rock n' Roll bought the Lisa Marie, a Convair 880 Jet, on April 17, 1975 from Delta Airlines for $250,000. Once he was done refurbishing it to include things like a penthouse bedroom and a executive bathroom with gold faucets, the aircraft ended up costing over $600,000. On a sad note, the last time the jet was used was to fly its namesake to Elvis' funeral. The Hound Dog II is a Lockheed JetStar that Elvis bought in 1975 for nearly $900,000 while the Lisa Marie was being spruced up, and while it's certainly not as cool as the former aircraft, it was still Elvis' and that's enough.

Thanks to the above video from Julien's Auctions, you can explore the jets and learn some cool trivia bits about Elvis' life. If interested, email info@juliensauctions.com or call 310-836-1818 to get an official sealed bid form with instructions, but make sure to get your forms in before the February 2 deadline.
