In a delightful splash of color and creativity, Australian photographer and designer Rebecca Collinson-Smith kicked off PARAISO Miami Swim Week on Thursday, May 30, 2024. She introduced her vibrant brands, Hunting Hue and Draw On Swimwear, to an eager audience.
The event began with the playful and imaginative Draw On Swimwear, a sustainable line designed to let children unleash their inner artists. Young models strutted down the runway in their own colorful creations, proudly carrying balloons featuring the Draw On Swimwear Cephalopod character logo. From one-piece swimsuits and rash guards to swim shorts and accessories, the collection offers something fun for both boys and girls.
Next, the lights dimmed, and the audience was treated to an action-packed video of Rebecca flying high above Sydney’s landmarks in a helicopter. This thrilling intro set the stage for the debut of Hunting Hue’s "Icons Of Sydney, Australia" collection.
Inspired by Sydney’s iconic landmarks and vibrant culture, Collinson-Smith’s designs brought the spirit of the city to life. Models showcased the ICEBERGS and BRIDGE + OPERA collections, featuring versatile and timeless swimwear styles for women, men, and children. The pieces ranged from bikinis and one-pieces to cut-out designs and sleeved options, all complemented by elegant silks used as headscarves, tops, sarongs, and neckties.
Established in 2019, Hunting Hue stands out with its commitment to sustainability, using fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. The brand, named in homage to Rebecca's father, emphasizes quality craftsmanship and the beauty of slow fashion. Celebrating family and the joy of shared style, Hunting Hue offers sophisticated designs for everyone from children to adults.
Rebecca Collinson-Smith, the creative force behind Hunting Hue, expressed her enthusiasm for the collection's debut. "Sydney's vibrant energy and unique beauty have always captivated me. Through the 'Icons Of Sydney, Australia' collection, I wanted to celebrate the breathtaking essence of this city, capturing its spirit in wearable art. Each piece is a testament to Sydney's rich identity, inviting wearers to carry a piece of its magic with them."
A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Collinson-Smith joined forces with her partner, retail powerhouse and founder of Honey Birdette, Eloise Monaghan, for this grand unveiling in Miami. Their collaboration made waves at the opening show of Paraiso Miami Swim Week, drawing a full house and plenty of excitement.
