Mary Katrantzou’s SS16 collection was titled Cosmology and, indeed, Katrantzou took us into another dimension. Upon entering Central Saint Martins, attendees were greeted with a massive mirrored wall which reflected the blue runway to create a trippy, almost otherworldly effect. We knew we were in for a treat as the room filled with an excited buzz from even the most reserved of editors and celebrities.

Katrantzou’s collection showcased her intricate craftsmanship. Metallic floral prints were bold, loud and daring, while flouncy, delicate frills were de rigueur. Shimmery metallic pinks, purples and yellows created a comic effect on each piece which made attendees peer closer to get a better look at the hypnotizing textures—the pieces literally lured you in.

A uniquely beautiful concept, this collection is rich with decadent crystals and fabrics with folkish, gypsy influences. Reimagined traditional patchwork and Romanian floral prints make the couture-style pieces feel approachable and wearable. Black ribbon chokers and ribbed, shimmery leggings were a fun throwback to our teenage years, and added a hint of whimsy to a very feminine collection. In a lineup filled with intricate dresses, it would have been nice to have seen some more masculine pieces on the runway, but it was clear the show was dedicated to a totally otherworldly woman.
