This is the spectacular Hungarian Parliament Building by night as seen from the Danube River.
When in Budapest, stay with the glitterati. The Corinthia Hotel Budapest is celebrating its 120 years, looking like a grande dame on the outside and a sophisticated lady on the interior. Located in the hub of the city center, just minutes from the Opera House and the main shopping avenue, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest, formerly known as the Grand Hotel Royal, from its very inception, has been serving distinguished guests with the discreet elegance of those who cherish privacy and the grand style.
Stay at “Executive Level” to experience the Corinthia Hotel Budapest’s special guest experience. This is an added level of luxury, namely the treatment of a private elevator whisking you up to a lounge where you can view the world in the comfort of your own private space. With complimentary food and beverage (including sparkling, still wine, and spirits), as well as concierge and business center assistance at your service, Executive Level is a valuable proposition. Your tastefully appointed and spacious room or suite provides ample space for work and relaxation with speedy, reliable, complimentary Wi-Fi at the ready.
The public areas are divided into contemporary spaces with touches of the traditional splendor still in view. Most notable is the grand marble staircase, which leads to the Conference Center and Grand Ballroom. Just walking up this staircase puts you in a royal frame of mind. Once at the top of the staircase, you might be escorted into the Grand Ballroom—restored to all of its gilded splendor—where grand occasions, like the recent Celebration of the 120 Year Birthday of the hotel took place.
At this important event, guests were treated to champagne, caviar, foie gras and all manner of luxe ingredients presented by a cadre of chefs who served each person individually, making for a remarkable gourmet procession, with each chef wearing a toque and serving a part of the dish with timed precision.
The meal was accompanied by fine Hungarian wines, live classic and modern music; the evening finishing in an adjoining room filled with desserts and dance music.
One striking feature of the Corinthia Hotel Budapest is the glass atrium, which connects two parts of the building. This architectural construct provides light and an ethereal setting for the hotel’s buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner service in the Brasserie and Atrium Restaurant.
In the evening, live musicians occupy this space and enhance the candle-lit dinner, featuring Hungarian specialties with a modern twist. The “Hungarian Goulash,” and “Confit Duck Leg with Foie Gras” are stellar examples of what is on offer.
On the same lobby level and adjacent to the Brasserie and Atrium Restaurant is their Rickshaw Restaurant offering some of the best Asian cuisine in the city. The Indonesian chef prepares an assortment of authentic dishes with his many noodle preparations, the “Sichuan Shrimp” being our favorites. The Hungarian white and rose wines, as well as local pilsner beer, provided perfect pairings for the well spiced dishes.
Of particular note is the Royal Spa that was built on an original Roman hot springs. The luxurious two-story space includes a fitness center, complete spa, Roman pool, and all manner of hot and cold hydrotherapy. The deep tissue massage, performed by experienced therapists, was a blissful start to hours of relaxation and rejuvenation available in this enclave, which features luxurious ESPA skin care products.
Although considered a city center hotel, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest provides every amenity to classify it as a resort location. Enjoy a special level of comfort, luxury and hospitality at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest.
