The Miracles for Kids “Back-to-School Basket of Miracles” event brought together over a hundred volunteers and donors to assemble and deliver 332 gift baskets containing 876backpacks full of school supplies for the families on their roster, offering a fun way to lend a helping hand.
As parents prepare to send their kids back to school, the expenses for school supplies begin to accumulate. But that is multiplied when a family is brought down by the devastation of a critically-ill child. Organizations like Miracles for Kids are there to help pick them back up. Bills, work, back-to-school needs and the pressures of life don’t stop when a child receives a devastating health diagnosis, and siblings of sick kids still need to prepare for going back to school.
Miracles for Kids made it easy for volunteers to "be the miracle" for families fighting for their children's lives through their annual "Back-to-School Basket of Miracles" event, which took place last Saturday, July 29th in Irvine, California.
“The Miracles team works tirelessly every year to ease the burden of families in crisis so the caregivers can focus on fighting the battle,” shares Miracles for Kids Co-Founder/CEO Autumn Strier. “Our Back-to-School Basket of Miracles' event is just one way our non-profit helps to provide for these families, delivering school essentials for the kids.”
The Miracles team collected back-to-school items through sponsors, donations, and local community initiatives to offer a smooth transition for families that need it most. To put it into perspective, the following is a breakdown of the “Back-to-School Basket of Miracles” impact in numbers:
332 families surprised with backpacks and classroom essentials
876 children received backpacks
82 local deliveries
250 baskets shipped
2,628 spiral notebooks
1,752 crayons, markers, and colored pencils
22,000+ other school supplies

Special thanks to Miracles for Kids sponsors and participating organizations for making this all possible!
