The infamous Watergate Hotel will soon be reopening its doors next summer thanks to New York-based real estate developer Euro Capital Properties. World-renowned designer Ron Arad is tasked with the $125-million project which will combine the hotel’s avant-garde architecture with classic elegance and bold mid-century modern furnishings by Italian designer Moroso.
Sitting on the banks of the Potomac River, the Watergate will consist of 343 guestrooms, many with balconies and views of the river. Of their multiple premier suites, five will be diplomat suites and two will be presidential suites. Guestrooms will come with floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms, cutting-edge technology and innovative smartphone applications.

For dining venues, the property will have a number of options available including a casual and fine dining restaurant. Positioning itself to be a hotspot for whiskey lovers, the hotel will also house a high-caliber whiskey bar which will feature the best Scotch, American craft whiskeys and an array of liquors. During the warmer months, guests can also head up to the rooftop bar for 360-degree views of the river, the Capitol and the Washington Monument.
Inside the spa and fitness facility will be eight treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, an over-sized 15-yard indoor swimming pool and a whirlpool. To assist guests in keeping up with their fitness routines, there will also studios available for yoga and workout classes.
Located next to some of the city’s most popular tourist destinations such as The White House, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Dupont Circle, it is also in a prime spot for business travelers visiting the Central Business Districts of K Street, L Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Hopefully the new hotel will be known for its spacious rooms and delicious cuisine instead of another presidential scandal; but it is D.C., so anything is possible.
