While there are certainly gyms out there that cater to the affluent, the new Gravity gym by UK-based Fitness First seems to be a cut above the rest. The $9.5 million, 7,000-square-foot, five-star club is being built on the top floor of a new office tower in Singapore’s Central Business District and will open later this year.
"Gravity will set new standards in fitness management in Asia. Serving as the hub for innovation, Gravity will lead the evolution of products and services across the Fitness First Group," said Simon Flint, CEO of Fitness First Asia in a statement.
Designed specifically for company executives and bankers, Gravity will reportedly accept just 999 members by invitation only. Promising a luxury wellness experience, guests will be offered customized fitness plans and have access to healthcare professionals for nutritional guidance. Aside from the excellent equipment one would expect at a gym, Gravity will also feature work booths and conference rooms with video capabilities for business executives who have busy schedules.
"We believe that Singapore is an ideal launch pad for Gravity, and our investment bears testament to Singapore's leading position as the magnet for new, innovative businesses and brands," Flint remarked in the statement. "As executives here and across the region increasingly recognize that a healthy, balanced lifestyle is key to peak performance, the growth opportunities for Gravity are strong as we look to expand further across Asia in the future.”
According to The Telegraph, there will be a one-time joining fee of £1,500 (USD $2,290), followed by subsequent monthly payments of £300 (USD $458).
