A musician, artist, philanthropist and a man with one of the most recognizable last names in the world; Julian Lennon is making waves with his newest photography exhibit in New York City. Opened as a solo exhibit in Chelsea at the refined Emmanuel Fremin Gallery, Horizon features black and white images taken on a trip to Africa.
Starting off as personal photographs from his trip with Scott Harrison, CEO of the non-profit charity: water, Lennon returned home to edit thousands of shots over the next several months. In that time, he found a sense of hope in his images. His body of work represented his philanthropic effort for the arts to serve a common good. Julian believes informed advocacy is effective advocacy, and photography and philanthropy can converge to educate, mobilize and activate the viewers on issues of public importance.
Back in March, a strict opening-night guest list ensured that the exhibit’s debut would be kept exclusive. Yet the gallery was packed with everyone from entertainers to art collectors, friends of both Lennon and the gallery and celebs like Whoopi Goldberg. The exhibit will be open until May 12, and a portion of all sales will go to the White Feather Foundation, which Lennon founded in 2007.
