The legendary Versace mansion on Miami’s famed Ocean Drive is set to re-open as an opulent boutique luxury hotel called The Villa by Barton G. The Israeli Nakash family, which owns Jordache Enterprises as well as five Miami hotels, acquired the iconic designer’s former residence for $41.5 million last September. To operate the hotel along with its lavish restaurant, the family hired events impresario and restaurateur Barton G. Weiss.
Featuring Mediterranean cuisine, Il Sole—helmed by Executive Chef Scott Linquist and Executive Pastry Chef Luis Vasquez—serves its dishes on elegant Versace-designed Rosenthal china.
The hotel consists of 10 truly palatial suites, each ranges in size and offers extravagant décor. From the 434-square-foot Medallion Suite overlooking one of the mansion’s most beautiful mosaics to the 1,428-square-foot Venus Suite which features two private balconies overlooking Ocean Drive, the accommodations are extremely impressive.
The 1,174 square-foot Villa Suite, Versace’s former bedroom, features a nine-foot double king-size bed, two balconies, seven custom-made closets and an ornate oversized shower.
The Mansion also boasts a 54-foot-long mosaic tiled swimming pool lined in 24-karat gold that was designed by Versace himself. Hotel guests will also have exclusive access to the mansion’s two private lounges as well as the Mosaic Gardens. Rates begin at around $795 a night.
