I’m willing to bet that if you’ve watched any part of the HBO series Game of Thrones over the past three seasons, then you’re most likely a fan. With the start of Season 4 airing on Sunday, April 6, devotees of the fantasy-novels-turned-TV-show are gearing up for more adventures in the Seven Kingdoms.
Even if Daenerys Targaryen, Robb Stark (RIP), Tywin Lannister, Tyrion Lannister and, well, all the crazy Lannisters, aren’t exactly real, the setting of their stories and travels, are. Bringing to life the destinations seen in the show, Zicasso travel company is offering a seven-day Tour of Croatia.
Based around the popular show, the journey begins in Split—considered one of the most beautiful cities on earth and the cultural capital of the region of Dalmatia—and ends in Dubrovnik. On day two, guests will get to tour Khaleesi’s Domains with a first stop at Klis Fortress (Danaerys’s stronghold) and then are off to Zrnovnica where an upcoming battle takes place in Season 4. The final location will be the glorious Diocletian’s Palace, the place where Dany shows her power by freeing the Unsullied, and vows to return to Westeros as a conquering queen.
Catching a ride on a catamaran to Hvar on day four, travelers will get to experience the glittering island in the Adriatic with its iconic architecture and blossoming art scene. From there, after some impressive sight-seeing, continue on to Spagnola, a seaside fortress, and Stari Grad, one of the oldest continually inhabited settlements.
Possibly one of the most exciting parts of the trip comes on day six, when guests are taken into Westeros’ capital in King’s Landing. Follow Tyrion Lannister’s path during the pivotal Battle of the Blackwater or see the tourney grounds where the beloved despised Prince Joffrey celebrates his name-day. But the day doesn’t end there, you’ll also visit Lokrum, the set of the superlative city of Qarth, you know, “the greatest city there ever was and the greatest city that ever will be.” It is there that Danaerys comes across the warlocks and a really important moment occurs with her dragons (no spoilers here).
Throughout the trip, guides, private drivers, accommodations at four-star hotels, and various entrance fees and activities will be provided. The customizable, private journey starts at USD $3,200 per person based on two people during mid-season. With additional guests, the price goes down, and those who book early (before June 15, 2014), will receive the complete set of Blue-Ray/DVD Combo and a Digital Copy of Game of Thrones Seasons 1, 2, and 3, as well as the five-book box set of the novel by George R.R. Martin.
