Colorado, images of ski slopes, snow covered mountains and beautiful scenery are often conjured up. What you may not realize is whether you come here in the summer or winter there is something for everyone to do, especially in the town of Beaver Creek. In the center of this small village where there are numerous restaurants and shops, there is also a year-round ice skating rink where both experts and novices alike can be seen skating in sync (in the warmer months, avid skaters can even be seen donning shorts!)
We stayed at the beautiful and newly renovated Beaver Creek Lodge located in the heart the beautiful alpine village of Beaver Creek. Upon arrival, we were quickly greeted by the friendly valet attendant at the entrance to the all-suite hotel, who helped us with our luggage and whisked away our car. The first rate staff here was tremendous during our entire stay and should be commended for going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable — Kate at the front desk offered suggestions where to go in the area and the valet attendant ensuring we had directions every time we left the property. If you don't feel like driving, simply request to have the complimentary Beaver Creek Resort shuttle take you around town.
Our luxurious king size room overlooked the indoor/outdoor pool as well as the village and neighboring creek, which provided a relaxing ambiance when our slider was opened. Inside, the rooms here are spacious and comfortable. There is a separate living room with gas fireplace (which comes complete in every room) along with a flat screen television and sumptuous leather sofa. We particularly enjoyed the addition of a kitchen with sink, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave, which would be perfect for a family spending an extended period of time here.
There are 72 guest suites and three-four bedroom condos at this boutique property, each featuring mountain chic décor, original artwork, and upscale amenities. We loved the faux fur throw on the bed, which added a nice mountain touch to the room.
We dined at Rocks Modern Grill, which is uniquely located on the second floor of the property where you can dine on everything from Rocky Mountain trout almondine to Jurgen's filet mignon. (For a real treat, be sure to ask for a sample of Manager Jim Lay's homemade lemoncello). The restaurant is bustling at breakfast as well where you can make your own omelet or simply choose an All-American breakfast. The glorious morning muffins here were delicious.
In the wintertime, guests come to this Kessler Collection property for the ski-to and ski-from slopes of Beaver Creek but the resort has also become a favorite of visiting guests year round. The green property is also very cognizant of the environment and has implemented the use of wind power to power the hotel. Their eco initiatives also include the installation of energy efficient light bulbs, programmable thermostats, low-flow toilets and extensive recycling programs. After a visit to the Beaver Creek Lodge, you will quickly realize why most of their guests can't wait to book a return stay.
Beaver Creek Lodge is located at 26 Avondale Lane in Beaver Creek, CO 81620. For reservations or more information, call (970) 845-9800 or visit www.beavercreeklodge.net.
