As soon as you enter this wickedly good restaurant, you will instantly be captured by its interior beauty and environmentally friendly design. They're using materials like Kirei board manufactured from reclaimed sorghum straw for the bar and CaesarStone Quartz table tops, comprised of 93 percent natural quartz.
Families and couples love the sumptuous booths with flat screen televisions at each table, providing entertainment for kids while parents can enjoy a night out. If you are looking for a more private dining experience, head on up to the second floor and grab a cozy booth. This area also has a great view of the lower level main dining room.
Created by owners Robert and Sheri Catania, Wicked recently opened at Legacy Place in Dedham and has been creating quite a buzz. The restaurant focuses on creative American cuisine and features fire kissed pizza. Like the first Wicked, which opened in 2009 on Cape Cod, all dishes are made from scratch using hormone and antibiotic free meats, organic dough, fresh local agriculture produce and local seafood.
We started off with a sampling of the arancini, three deliciously crisp risotto croquettes loaded with pancetta, fontina cheese and Italian sausage served with tasty marinara sauce.
Other appetizers included five spice fried lobster, quahog stuffed portabello mushroom, parmesan cheese fries with truffle oil and crispy polenta and parmesan crusted calamari. There is also an enticing list of salads, including a unique find like the miso chicken and soba noodle.
Moving right along, we tried the Sicilian comfort pizza, an amazingly delicious combination of house-made sweet Italian sausage and meatballs, topped with ricotta, tomato sauce, spinach, mozzarella and finished off with a perfect amount of fresh basil.
The scallop BLT pizza was equally amazing, packed with flavor from fresh sea scallops, arugula, basil aioli, crisp applewood bacon, fresh tomato and gorgonzola cheese. Some of the other pizzas that sounded intriguing included grilled portabella and spinach, shrimp scampi, chicken mole, and autumn butternut and goat cheese. The fire kissed pizza combines old world, Neapolitan pizza-making techniques with dough made from certified organic flour, organic (natural starter) yeast and purified water, then cooked in a 700 degree stone hearth oven.
The fusilli Bolognese dish was an extremely addictive overflow of hand-cut pasta, crisp pancetta, meatballs, sausage, mozzarella, red peppers, pesto and tomato sauce. If you are looking for a lighter sampling, check out the sandwich and burger selection. Don't miss the juicy mushroom and aged Swiss cheese burger, served with a flavorful house baked sweet potato roll.
The beer and wine list should be commended as well. There are more than 20 wines available by the glass, which are climate controlled and kept on a wine preservation system.
The night we visited they offered a decadent blueberry cheesecake, but if there is one thing on the dessert list that is a must try, it's the house-made ice cream. Wicked just might be our new favorite addiction.
