Dining: Looking for somewhere to relax after a full day of shopping? For some of the best sushi in Boston, you don't have to look any further than Haru Sushi. Located at the Prudential Shops, this seafood mecca serves up some of the freshest seafood in town.
We visited the restaurant one afternoon for lunch and were delighted we did. Our server quickly greeted us as we sat at a table near the floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlooked Huntington Avenue. There is a sushi bar located at the rear of the restaurant where you can see chefs slicing up fresh seafood and making some eye-catching presentations.
We started off with the sautéed scallops special-three perfectly seared scallops arrived topped with a heavenly black truffle wasabi salsa. The menu here can be a bit overwhelming with all the separate offerings of sushi and sashimi, hand rolls, appetizers, special rolls and sushi entrees. Our server was extremely helpful in providing thorough explanations and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu.
Moving right along, we sampled the addicting steamed vegetable dumplings served with soy sauce. The Spicy Tuna roll was perfectly crafted and loaded with fresh tuna, served with a generous portion of wasabi and fresh ginger. We also tried the flavorful Kiss of Fire roll comprised of white tuna, salmon, chopped jalapeño peppers and wasabi tobiko. It was all wrapped around crunchy spicy tuna and even more jalapeños, adding just the right amount of heat. The Spicy Titanic Roll was hailed the favorite of the table. It's made with salmon, avocado and caviar wrapped around spicy tuna and tempura flakes. The Boston unCommon roll, Super Dynamite roll and Dice-K roll all sounded intriguing. We are already planning our return visit to sample the grilled salmon teriyaki and the sashimi salad.
There are nine Haru locations in New York, Philadelphia and Boston.
