We’ve been able to get custom paint jobs on our luxury cars for a while, but usually the tires are relegated to a boring black. Now that Garage Italia Customs (owned by Fiat heir, Lapo Elkan) has partnered with Pirelli, that’s all about to change—at least for Garage customers, that is.
Next year Garage Italia clients will be able to order “tailor-made coloured-wall” tires made by Pirelli for their four-wheeled babies. “I’m immensely proud to collaborate with such an excellence in this field. Pirelli is an Italian symbol worldwide when it comes to performance. Together we are bringing colour in what is an exquisitely technologic sector,” says Lapo Elkann.
As the only Formula 1 supplier, it makes sense that Garage Italia would ask Pirelli to be the exclusive manufacturer of their new tires. “Their proposition was to develop an exclusive new range of coloured-wall tyres which could exponentially highlight the uniqueness of the Garage creations,” says the company.
Garage Italia first tested out interest by debuting whitewall tires on their Concept 500e Stormtrooper at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which was created to commemorate the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. They have also put green and light blue sets on their customized Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari California models. Though prices haven’t been released, it’s safe to say they’re high since these tires come with a fully-customized supercar.
