When you hear of a car zooming from 0-60mph in just four seconds, it’s usually a sports car or sedan, but not this time. Bentley’s highly-anticipated SUV, the Bentayga, is the newest automotive star to hit the scene, with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine that helps it achieve its impressive speed.
"Bentayga is the fastest, most powerful, most luxurious and most exclusive SUV in the world,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive Bentley Motors. Bentley recently unveiled their new luxury SUV at the IAA Frankfurt Auto Show, showing off its top speed of 187mph, 664 lb-ft of torque at 1,250-4,500rpm, 600hp, and ability to tow up to 3,500kg (around 7,716 pounds) without any trouble. The driver is able to manipulate the throttle response and power delivery, as well as many different on- and off-road settings.
It may be able to tear through the woods with the best of them, but the car is definitely a Bentley and has all of the trimmings we expect—including some crazy customizations. If you want, the marque will install a refrigerator in the truck for two bottles of Dom Perignon, a storage box for silverware and an additional space to hold whatever on-the-go picnic needs you may have. By working with Breitling, customers can also choose to have a diamond-encrusted custom gold clock installed in the dash.
Starting at $300,000, the Bentayga already has 5,000 pre-orders, with American consumers leading the game.
