Christie’s New York is having its bi-annual auction series devoted to the finest in jewelry, watches, wine and 20th century design. Christies Luxury Week is a four-day affair that will run from June 12-15, 2012. Over the course of four days, the special event will include five separate sales events that will focus on the aforementioned categories. More than 1,000 items will be offered. Christie’s pre-auction sales estimate for the auction of luxury goods exceeds $23 million.
More than 180 selections of fine jewelry will be included in the sale. Investment-quality diamonds, rare gemstones, and period jewels, such as an array of large top-quality diamonds that include more than a dozen colorless stones rated as D, E or F, which is the finest color quality possible. The largest gem in the group is a stunning 22.46 carat rectangular-cut E-color diamond ring by David Webb, which is expected to fetch between $1.2 and $1.8 million.
Jewels from vintage and modern periods, including an Art Deco diamond bracelet by Cartier circa 1930 and a selection of designs by Van Cleef & Arpels, Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co., Cartier and Marina B. from the estate ofLucille E. Davison, a prominent New England philanthropist, make up the more than 1,000 lots to presented.
Other notable selections include a rare Patek Philippe reference 2523, an 18k gold world-time wristwatch with two crowns that was manufactured in 1963 and a vintage Patek Philippe reference 1436, an 18k pink gold split-seconds chronograph watch that was manufactured in 1950.
Christie’s also will present a pristine selection of fine and rare wines with over 450 lots, including wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône, Italy, and the New World. Blue-chip collectible wines to be offered include banded cases of 2003 Château Margaux Latour, and Lafite.
Rare spirits also will be represented in the upcoming sale by three unique offerings: Johnnie Walker Blue Label Blended Scotch Whiskey in the 200th Anniversary Limited-Edition bottling, 40-year-old Bowmore, and the legendary Hardy Perfection Cognac.
