Luxury Cell Phones: TAG Heuer and Lamborghini have forged a partnership to produce the Meridiist Automobili Lamborghini cell phone. Only 1,963 will be marketed worldwide to commemorate the year this fabled Italy-based automaker was founded. The inspiration for this superior-crafted communications device is the supercar Lamborghini Murcielago.
The time in hours, minutes, and seconds is displayed across the top of the unit on a screen atop the central display screen. The cell phone is encased in black titanium carbide-coated 316L stainless steel, which is actually a stainless steel alloy used by premium jewelers for its resistance to oxidizing or blackening. The back of it is engraved with its specific number of the limited edition 1,963 to be made along with the vertically lettered “automobili Lamborghini.” On the front, the keyboard’s central button has the Lamborghini-trademarked Taurus bull etched into it.
The instrument’s display is 60.5 carats of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, providing exceptional light transmission and protection from the elements. Seven hours of talk time or 28 days of standby power is available between battery charges.
