Presented by The St. Regis Houston
Houston's Blossoming Summer Bar Scene
Summer is officially in full swing and Houston is ready to celebrate with fresh, seasonal food and more importantly, fabulous cocktails. If you’re looking for a place to start, The St. Regis Houston is it. Inside, Remington Bar is mixing up their signature Bloody Mary’s kicked up with tequila, jalapeño pepper, and Cajun seasoning—a bold way to start a day in this Southern city.
Here are five more spots to check out for some Texas-sized fun in the sun this season.
Canard
You can be sure the 50 seats of this new Heights bar will be filling up fast thanks to an impressively-creative cocktail list. Unconventional concoctions include the Kelpie Cocktail, a blend of Scotch, Green Chartreuse and Sherry; and Girl With a Pearl Earring made with strawberry and pink peppercorn-infused Genever. With an entire wall dedicated to Chartreuse, you can expect this plant-based liquor to make an appearance in many different ways this summer.
Part & Parcel
This under-the-stars courtyard bar is in the heart of downtown. The drink menu offers a mix of classic cocktails and unusual libations complemented by infused syrups and exotic bitters. One of the most popular adult beverages is The Truth, crafted with the property’s own private label Edgar’s Truth bourbon, Royal Combier, pineapple-citrus sour and angostura bitters. The food menu is also worth a taste. Street tacos, chicharron, chicken wings, and deviled eggs all come with a Mexico-meets-Southeastern twist.
Ginger & Fork
Owner May Li was inspired to open her modern Cantonese concept after hearing the same complaint from her friends: The deliciously authentic Chinese restaurants she would take them to were missing equally delicious cocktails. No wonder the menu features such standouts as The Dragon Fire made with Tanqueray Rangpur Gin, Ancho Chili Liqueur, Bad Dog Fire & Damnation bitters, fresh lemon juice, freshly muddled dragon fruit and their signature Whiskey Root with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Benedictine, ginger, fresh Thai basil, Regan’s Orange bitters.
Sundown at The Grove
Any night is a good night to sip drinks at this hot spot overlooking Discovery Green urban park, but Wednesdays are particularly alluring this summer. Every Wednesday from June 22 through August 31, The Grove’s culinary team will be creating inventive small plates to be paired with a hand-selected craft beer from one of the country’s finest breweries. You can buy tickets in advance or at the door, but make sure to show up at 5:30 p.m. and grab a seat so you don’t miss the best part of the evening: the gorgeous sunset.
Rosemont Social Club
For sophisticated drinks in a casual, open-air setting, Rosemont Social Club’s rooftop is the place to be. Sit back in one of the cozy pillow-laden cabanas and enjoy one of their clever creations such as the Viet Julep made with bourbon, Vietnamese coffee syrup, and mint, or the sweet Strawberry Basil Smash, a combination of vodka, muddled strawberry, basil and ginger beer. Their cognac or gin punch bowls are great for a group looking to keep the party going all night long.
