Almost a year has passed since we first reported on the Four Seasons Private Jet and its around the world trip and now we can finally see what it looks like, inside and out. The Four Seasons has customized a Boeing 757 to be a high-flying luxury hotel designed to give you the same experience 30,000 feet in the air as you get on land.
“In our hotels, spaces are conceived as settings for great experiences,” says Dana Kalczak, Vice President, Design, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “The same is true for the Four Seasons Private Jet. Along with the core objectives of comfort and functionality—and adherence to strict aircraft safety standards—we wanted to create an exceptionally luxurious ambiance, and Champagne and caviar became our inspiration.”
The single-aisle aircraft has 52 flatbed handcrafted leather seats from Italian brand Iacobucci, hand-woven wool carpets, fine tableware, dark shellacked wood tray tables, and Mongolian cashmere blankets. Even the cute accent pillows look plush and comfortable. The jet's exterior got a little makeover too, with a sleek high-gloss black paint job and the placement of a huge Four Seasons tree logo on the tail.
Four Seasons chef, Kerry Sear, is overseeing the food and beverage program, which uses fresh ingredients for its innovative menus and offers as many as three choices for starters, main, sides and desserts. By working with culinary teams on the ground, Chef Sear's dishes reflect each destination and each day greets passengers with a totally new menu. Of course, since the on-board kitchen is limited, meals are mostly prepared prior to takeoff in the hotel. Once in the air, dishes are finished in a "special steam-equipped oven for extra moisture," with extra touches like herbs and fruits added.
Once seated, you get some neat amenities, like a Bvlgari toiletry kit that is valued around $100, Bose noise-cancelling headphones, and a leather travel journal. You will also get an iPad Air 2 prior to your flight so you can load it with all your favorite music and movies to enjoy while in the air. Each flight has at least 21 crew members on-board, including three pilots, two engineers, a concierge, a doctor, and a photographer to tag along and document your many adventures once your destination is reached.
The trips include air travel, ground transportation, planned excursions, all meals and beverages during the course of the trip, and of course, accommodations at Four Seasons hotels and resorts. If you don't want to share the jet with others, you can also get the jet privately chartered. The next Around the World Tour is set for August (with nine stops ranging from Seattle to Asia) may already be sold out, but booking is already open for the 2016 trip. Spanning 24 days, the journey will start in Los Angeles, stop at places like Mumbai and Istanbul, and end in London. The trip is priced at $132,000 per person.
