Admittedly I’m a pretty big fan of fashion videos—a fun storyline, amazing clothes and industry A-listers usually come to life on the screen for a few minutes of utter awesomeness. But Ermenegildo Zegna’s film, A Rose Reborn, is so much more than that. Intrigue, riddles, villains and a worldwide adventure of cat-and-mouse make this one of the most in-depth, standalone pieces that’s hit the industry in a while. And of course where would all this James Bond espionage be without an extremely well-dressed protagonist sporting one hell of a Zegna suit?
Directed by acclaimed director Park Chan-wook and styled by Zegna designer Stefano Pilati, the 20-minute short stars actors Jack Huston (from Boardwalk Empire) and Daniel Wu. Distributed in four episodic pieces, each set in a different country, the films are part of the journey campaign as the brand asks “It’s your journey. Where will you go next?” Which for Huston’s character includes stops in London, Wyoming, Shanghai and Milan—but we don’t want to give too much away. While the film does have a tendency to really push that suit, it does it in a way that makes you notice it, take it in, then forget about it when the next twist comes. All-in-all it’s basically the best campaign we’ve ever seen. Head over to Ermenegildo Zegna to see it in its entirety.
