This year, Hublot is presenting an entirely new watch design, the totally transparent Big Bang Unico Sapphire. Created as an antithesis to the brand’s All Black concept collection, the latest timepiece offers an entirely new level of visual delight. The entire watch is transparent, cut from blocks of polished sapphire, with only a few pieces of titanium serving as the spine of the watch. The screws and the crown have been molded with clear silicone and even the dial is made from a crystal resin so no gear will go unnoticed.
“The Big Bang Unico Sapphire is invisible yet makes the time display visible. It makes our proprietary Unico movement fully and completely visible. A watch which has nothing to hide, which fully reveals its construction and its movement,” Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, said in a statement. Inside, wearers will find the HUB 1242 UNICO movement with column-wheel chronograph and flyback function, and double coupling clutch. The watch face features two sub-dials at the three and nine o’clock positions: a 30- and 60-minute counter. The date dial runs around the perimeter of the watch face, with a window at the three o’clock hour.
As a first for the brand, the Big Bang Unico Sapphire is expected to become a collectors piece for both chronograph and Hublot fans. The special-edition watch will be limited to a 500 piece collection.
