We love an exceptional ladies timepiece and nothing has captured our attention quite like Harry Winston’s latest watch, the Premier Lace 31mm. A personal favorite from the moment we laid eyes on it—admittedly more for the intricate design than any mechanical feats of horological engineering—we knew this new piece was something special. With mother-of-pearl, lace-cut dials and glittering, diamond-encrusted bezels, this is probably one of the most beautiful watch lines we’ve seen since the presentations at Baselworld.
While the brand is no stranger to exquisite timepieces—some of their more magnificent collections include dials filled with loose diamonds or watch faces adorned in butterfly wings—this is one of their more aesthetically complicated pieces. To create the Premier Lace 31mm line, the label needed to call upon their most expert craftsmen to craft an intricate “lace” pattern from mother-of-pearl that was only 0.15mm thick. For Harry Winston, the lace design represent enduring time, while the mother-of-pearl is a symbol of purity and tenderness. As each watch is designed and crafted from a natural material, no two are exactly alike.
But mother-of-pearl isn’t the only material used to make these pieces sparkle and shine. Encased in 18-karat silver or rose gold, the watch is decorated with 78 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 1.3 carats. The bezel alone holds 63 stones weighing 1.17 carats, while the watch buckle is studded with another 15 weighing 0.13 carats. Two versions of the watch are available: the first is a black and white-gold edition with white mother-of-pearl dial, and the second is a rose gold and taupe watch with a Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial and pink-tinged mother-of-pearl lace overlay. We’re partial to the pink variation for its ultra-feminine colorway, but the black does look beautifully luxurious. Decisions, decisions.
