For months rumors have been flying that Rihanna would be launching her own beauty brand, and now it seem that all the speculation is true. Today LVMH announced a partnership with Rihanna to release a complete color cosmetics line, named Fenty Beauty, by next year. The deal between the singer and the Kendo division of LVMH is estimated to be worth up to $10 million, but no specifics have been released.
“Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience,” David Suliteanu, chief executive officer of Kendo, told WWD. “We are aiming for the stars.” Clearly they picked the right star—within the last few years the singer has collaborated with Armani Jeans, Manolo Blahnik and this season just held her first Fenty collection for Puma during New York Fashion Week. Of course this isn’t the first time the pop star has ventured into the beauty industry either—in 2013 she partnered with MAC Cosmetics to create the four-part MAC Loves RiRi collection and she has created more than half a dozen fragrances.
In addition to the Fenty Beauty brand, Kendo has also launched cosmetics lines for Marc Jacobs and Kat Von D. There’s not much news in terms of what the collection will include, so we’ll have to wait over a year to see what RiRi has in store for us. Fenty Beauty is slated for release in September 2017.
