Apparently I’ve been wearing perfume all wrong. I should have a smoking hot actor by my side driving me around New York in his classic convertible while we discuss what a fabulous life I lead. That’s the right way to do fragrance this season—at least according to Dolce & Gabbana. In a new campaign (that’s oddly fantastic and ridiculous at the same time), Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey drive around the city discussing their past unsuccessful relationship, nagging about the other’s faults and basically looking beautiful. The film, titled Street of Dreams, was directed by Martin Scorsese, so it actually makes for a winning piece as far as entertainment goes. The skylines, angles and grayscale make for perfect imagery—and that’s without the romantic Italian music playing in the background.
While I can’t say I’ve ever felt this elegant while wearing a perfume (or spending the afternoon with an ex), I’d be tempted to give The One a try if I knew I was going to have a flirtatious on-again, off-again romance with Matthew McConaughey—but I’ll settle for a two minute fragrance commercial.
