It hasn’t even been a week since the announcement of Kendall Jenner’s Estée Lauder campaign, but it looks like she already snapped up a top spot at another major label. Today it was reported that the 19-year-old will now be the face of Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring 2015 campaign. She’ll be starring alongside big names like Ming Xi, Sasha Luss and Baptiste Giabiconi in the designer’s ads—which he shot himself—next season. And while we know she’s close with the Kaiser, having walked for Chanel for the past few seasons and made an appearance on the Fendi runway during the SS15 show, this is definitely a big move—and at the same time just another name on the list of brands snapping up the young star.
While this is assuredly far from the last campaign she’ll be getting this coming year, it does seem to leave people wondering if Jenner is being swept up because of her talent or her name. The model has been doing her best to distance herself from her family ties in an effort to be recognized for her own merits, claiming hard work and discipline are the keys to her success, but, now let’s just be honest, her name doesn’t hurt. It’s a great way of cashing in on the Kardashians without having to cast an actual Kardashian. But if she keeps up the hard work and can keep focused, she has a legitimate shot at being recognized entirely for her talent. We’ll be rooting for her.
