Because there’s never enough brooding and scowling in the world of fashion, Chanel has chosen angst-y Kristin Stewart as the face of the new Pre-Fall 2014 collection. The collection which premiered last night in Dallas was a star-studded affair, with a larger-than-life Western theme that could only be pulled off in Texas. Sitting front and center, KStew was one of the many famous names in attendance for the Métiers d'Art Show; Dakota Fanning, Lily Collins, Zoe Kravitz, Alexa Chung, Geraldine Chaplin, Lauren Hutton, as well as runway veterans Anna Wintour and André Leon Talley came out to support Karl Lagerfeld. At the end of the show it was announced the actress would front the new campaign that is set to debut in May 2014.

The show started with Lagerfeld’s new movie on Coco Chanel’s 1954 comeback collection and had guests and celebrities watching from vintage convertibles in a custom-built drive-in cinema. Western Americana inspired looks were sent down the rodeo-themed runway to the tune of tasseled ponchos, feathered head-pieces and warpaint. Aside from the political incorrectness of it all, it was a beautiful collection and totally not in the vein of anything Stewart would ever realistically wear. But then again, maybe her stoic nonchalance will add a little high-fashion to all that leather fringe.
