It looks like another high-profile creative director is leaving his post this month. Designer Alber Elbaz will be exiting his position at Lanvin after 14 years with the Parisian brand. Members of his design team were notified of his departure this morning, and an official announcement is expected in the coming days. Insiders said that disagreements between the designer and the brand’s owner, Shaw-Lan Wang, and chief executive officer Michèle Huiban are what caused the creative to resign. According to sources at Lanvin, Elbaz has already emptied his office on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré
News of the exit comes just days after the resignation of Raf Simons at Dior, leading to speculation that Elbaz may be taking over Simons’ position at the label. In 2011, when Dior was first discussing who could take over as creative director after Galliano was dismissed for his anti-Semitic rant, his name was on the short list, but he was never hired due to his ownership stake in the Lanvin label. Currently, it’s unclear if he will be selling this in his departure.
