If you’ve always wanted to own a Rihanna-styled Fendi bag, now is your chance. The Italian brand just announced that they will be partnering with five fashion icons—Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Feinstein, Jourdan Dunn and Leandra Medine—to each design a bag for the storefront of their newest flagship on Madison Avenue. The bags will be on display from February 13 until March 13, and after will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the charity of that celebrity’s choice.
The bag to be designed will be the 3Baguette, a reinterpretation of one of Fendi’s most iconic purses. Introduced last year, the latest edition is a little more structured and the FF logo is a functioning lock rather than an aesthetic piece. While each personality will be designing a 3Baguette, Rihanna, Parker and Feinstein will also be creating micro-baguettes, bringing the oncoming trend of mini bags to a head.
“They had free rein, choosing their favorite colors, favoring their own personal tastes. It also shows that nothing is impossible with the incredible artisans at Fendi,” CEO Pietro Beccari told WWD. “There is not only one kind of woman and they are each excellent in their own field.” On February 13, Beccari, Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi will host the flagship’s opening party and reveal the latest window design, decorated with the personalized bags. During the month they are on display they will be up for auction at launch3baguetteauction.fendi.com.
The proceeds will each go to a charity of each women’s choice: Rihanna will contribute to The Clara Lionel Foundation, the organization she founded to improve the life of global communities. Medine’s proceeds will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Parker’s designs will benefit The Brain Trauma Foundation, Dunn will donate to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, and Feinstein’s will help the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
